U.S. News & World Report

Rehabilitation Nationally Ranked By U.S. News & World Report 2022

Among all hospitals nationwide, Atrium Medical Center was ranked 50th in the nation for rehabilitation services, according to U.S. News & World Report.

The hospital also achieved a “high performing” designation from U.S. News & World Report in the following 3 areas in 2023:

  • Heart attack
  • Maternity care (uncomplicated pregnancy)
  • Stroke

Healthgrades Awards

Healthgrades is an independent organization created to help consumers understand, compare and evaluate hospital performance. They provide objective, comprehensive information about hospital quality in America's hospitals. Healthgrades evaluates hospitals solely on clinical outcomes—risk-adjusted mortality and in-hospital complications. They recognize the top-performing hospitals in the nation that have achieved excellence in particular specialties, clinical excellence, and patient safety.

U.S. News & World Report

Atrium Medical Center’s Heart Care Recognized

July 2019 – U.S. News & World Report has recognized Atrium Medical Center as a high-performing hospital in the treatment of congestive heart failure. U.S. News’ Best Hospitals procedure and condition ratings focus on individual procedures and conditions such as congestive heart failure rather than on broader specialties such as cardiology. The goal is to evaluate how well hospitals perform in each procedure or condition and not just with the most difficult cases, as with the specialty rankings, but with the full range of patients.

Get With the Guidelines® - Stroke Silver Quality Achievement Award

July 2022 – Premier Health’s Atrium Medical Center recently earned an award for providing the most appropriate stroke treatment in accordance with nationally recognized guidelines based on the latest scientific evidence, according to the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association. Through the Get With The Guidelines® program, Atrium Medical Center earned the Stroke Silver Quality Achievement Award.

Mission: Lifeline® Gold Receiving Quality Achievement Award

July 2018 – This award recognizes Atrium Medical Center for meeting the American Heart Association’s specific criteria and standards of performance for quick and appropriate treatment of patients who suffer severe heart attacks. Our emergency procedures re-establish blood flow to blocked arteries in heart attack patients coming into the hospital directly or by transfer from another facility.

Accreditations and Designations

The Joint Commission Accreditation

Atrium consistently earns the highest level of accreditation from The Joint Commission, the nation’s oldest health care accrediting body.

Primary Stroke Center Certification

Atrium’s stroke program is one of only 18 hospitals in the state to be certified as a Primary Stroke Center by The Joint Commission, earning the Gold Seal of Approval™ for stroke care.

Senior Emergency Center First in Cincinnati Area to Earn Accreditation

October 2019 – The Senior Emergency Center at Atrium Medical Center has received accreditation from The American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP).

With the bronze standard Level 3 Geriatric Emergency Department Accreditation (GEDA), Atrium is the first hospital in the Cincinnati area and one of only five hospitals in Ohio to achieve a GEDA honor.

Premier Health First in Ohio, Second in Nation to Achieve System-Wide Geriatric Emergency Department Accreditation

June 2020 – Premier Health is the first health system in Ohio and second in the nation to achieve system-wide Geriatric Emergency Department Accreditation (GEDA). This distinction from the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) recognizes emergency departments that provide excellent care for older adults. The bronze standard Level 3 Geriatric Emergency Department Accreditation applies to Atrium Medical Center in Middletown (which was accredited in October 2019), Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Miami Valley Hospital Austin Boulevard Emergency Center in Miamisburg, Miami Valley Hospital Jamestown Emergency Center in Jamestown, Miami Valley Hospital North in Englewood, Miami Valley Hospital South in Centerville, and Upper Valley Medical Center in Troy.

Blue Distinction Center for Maternity Care

April 2018 – Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Ohio has, for the second time, recognized all Premier Health maternity centers with a Blue Distinction® Center+ for Maternity Care designation as part of the Blue Distinction Specialty Care program.

The maternity centers include Atrium Medical Center, Miami Valley Hospital with an additional site at Miami Valley Hospital South, and Upper Valley Medical Center.

Blue Distinction Centers are nationally designated hospitals that demonstrate expertise in delivering improved patient safety and better health outcomes based on objective measures that were developed with input from the medical community. To receive a Blue Distinction Centers+ for Maternity Care designation, a hospital must also demonstrate cost-efficiency. 

Cincinnati Enquirer: Atrium Medical Center Among Top Workplaces

June 2020 – Premier Health’s Atrium Medical Center has been recognized as one of the Top Workplaces in Cincinnati by the Cincinnati Enquirer. Employees were asked to answer an engagement survey about their workplace environment and culture. Recipients of the Top Workplaces honor were judged on corporate alignment, employee coaching, connection with employees, engagement, performance, and leadership.

Atrium Medical Center Finalist For “Best Place to Have a Baby”

November 2019 – Premier Health’s Atrium Medical Center has been recognized as a “Best Place to Have a Baby” finalist by Cincinnati Family Magazine’s Best of Parenting 2019 Awards. Atrium Medical Center’s family birth center offers a full range of maternity care before, during and after the birth of a child by providing educational classes, nutritional services, and breastfeeding support from board-certified lactation consultants.
