Pre-Delivery Examination Rooms
When you come into the hospital with contractions, you will be examined by a doctor or nurse in one of our pre-delivery exam rooms. These rooms are also used for non-stress tests, preterm labor, bleeding or other issues. Once it is determined that you are in labor, you will be admitted to a birthing suite.
Cesarean Section (C-section) Rooms
If needed, we can quickly move you into one of two C-section rooms, providing flexibility in emergency situations.
Our private spa, located in the mother and baby care area on the same floor, provides a massage table and large Jacuzzi® tub for alternative therapies.
Right next to Registration is the waiting area for family members and friends. Atrium Café, Kobricks (coffee shop) and additional vending machines are available nearby in the main lobby on the first floor.
Massage helps you ease the physical and emotional discomforts before, during and after childbirth.
As a patient in our Family Birth Center, you may take advantage of our complimentary massage therapy services. We offer chair and full body massages in the peaceful surroundings of our spa room or we can bring services to you in your own private room. If you are interested in a massage, please ask your nurse to help you make the arrangements.
Benefits of massage include:
- Reduced swelling in hands, feet and ankles
- Lessened sciatic pain
- Eased muscular discomforts
- Increased blood circulation
- Lessened anxiety or depression
- Release of endorphins, the body’s natural pain killers
- Eased stress mothers often feel after birth
- Promoted healing process
Our licensed massage therapist can also teach you about the benefits of infant massage.

Upon arriving at the hospital, please go directly to the Family Birth Center on the third floor. After a brief registration, you will be officially admitted to the center. At this point, you will either be quickly examined by a doctor or nurse in the triage room to establish the progress of your labor or immediately escorted to one of six private birthing suites.
As you are admitted into the birthing suite, you will be assigned a team of medical professionals:
- The OB/GYN physician currently working in labor and delivery or on-call
- A registered nurse
- An obstetrician technician
This team will complete an assessment of your condition. They will also request and review the medical information collected by your attending obstetrician’s office during your pregnancy.
