Many of our highly-trained surgical services staff members are certified to work in the operating rooms, with years of experience caring for patients who require surgery. The skilled surgical staff members at Atrium provide compassionate care to the patients and their families.
Registration team – The faces and voices of the department who coordinate the patient’s demographic and insurance information
Pre-admission testing coordinator – Pre-admission testing liaison who provides coordination of services prior to the day of procedure
Pre-admission testing registered nurse – Obtains medical history and performs a peri-anesthesia assessment in coordination with anesthesia services
Pre-op registered nurse – Admits patients and prepares for procedures (also performs discharge process for same-day surgical patients)
Pre-op team lead registered nurse – Assists with patient flow through the department and works directly with the main operating room charge nurse to coordinate daily schedule process flow
Pre-op patient care technician – assists admission registered nurse with vital signs, transports patients within peri-op and the facility, performs blood draws for same-day surgical patients as needed
Anesthesiologist – Supervising physician for the Anesthesia Department
Certified registered nurse anesthetist – Registered nurse with advanced degree who administers anesthesia for surgical procedures
Operating room registered nurse – Assigned to an individual surgical procedure (performs a surgical interview, and documents the surgical procedure)
Operating room surgical technologist – Hands necessary surgical instrumentation to the surgeon for every case
Operating room first assistant – Registered nurse, or certified surgical technologist with assistant certification
Surgical assistant – Functions as the surgeon’s primary assistant, places retractors and closes surgical wounds
Anesthesia technician – Provides direct support to the anesthesia providers, monitors and maintains anesthesia supplies, as well as assists with equipment checks on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis
Operating room patient care technician – Assists the assigned operating room team with positioning, surgical preparations, and room turnover process. Additionally, transports patients within the department and the facility.
