About Pastoral Care
Physical health is intricately linked to emotional and spiritual well-being. While the doctors and nurses of Atrium Medical Center (Atrium) take care of the body and mind, our Pastoral Care Department tends to matters of the spirit. The Atrium Pastoral Care program serves patients—as well as patients’ family members and loved ones—whether they need spiritual counseling, a comforting shoulder, or someone to pray with.
When patients are admitted to Atrium and request a pastoral visit, our chaplains contact them for an initial visit and then follow up afterward. Chaplains provide supportive counseling and care to patients, families, and staff who are emotionally distressed, struggling with religious/spiritual/ethical issues, or who are requesting a specific religious rite or ritual.
