Bidwell Surgery Center Ribbon Cutting
Middletown, Ohio, Monday, May 12, 2008 – Today’s ribbon cutting at Bidwell Surgery Center marks the ceremonial opening of the free-standing ambulatory surgery center located on Premier Health Campus – Middletown, north of Atrium Medical Center. When the center is fully open later this summer, it will offer convenient community access to outpatient surgeries, such as obstetrical-gynecological, plastic, podiatric, and orthopedic, plus gastroenterology and other procedures that don’t require an inpatient stay.
“We’re pleased to partner with Dayton Children’s and area physicians to bring state-of-the-art outpatient surgical services to this campus,” states Douglas W. McNeill, president and CEO of Atrium Medical Center. “The opening of this center brings us one step closer to our vision of a comprehensive health and technology campus serving the region.”
The 18,500 square foot center features five operating rooms and one minor procedure room. The design of the center maximizes staff efficiency while increasing patient privacy and convenience. The center features 15 recovery areas (10 of which are private rooms) and wireless Internet access so that patients and family members can stay connected to their lives while at the center. Additional conveniences are at-the-door parking and a comfortable waiting area.
“It’s not often that surgeons have the opportunity to practice at a brand new facility built with our needs in mind,” says Dennis Min, DO, chair of the Bidwell Surgery Center Board of Directors. “The technologies available in this center, including high-definition monitors and audiovisual integration in the operating suites, are state-of-the-art and will ultimately enhance the surgical experience.”
The surgery center is undergoing a phased opening with self-pay patients being accepted currently. Near the end of this month the center will begin accepting Medicare patients, and the center will fully open to all patients later this summer. Once fully open, the center will provide care to adults and children.
“Through this joint venture and our Specialty Care Center, we’re expanding access to high-quality pediatric services for area families and children,” says Matthew Graybill, vice president of business planning and development for The Children’s Medical Center of Dayton. “Having our services on Premier Health Campus – Middletown provides us with an excellent way to provide convenient, local care to families and physicians in the southern portion of our region.”
Bidwell Surgery Center is a joint venture comprised of Atrium Medical Center, The Children’s Medical Center of Dayton and area physicians. It is managed by Health Inventures, a firm specializing in the successful management of ambulatory surgery centers.
