Atrium Medical Center Hosts “Dessert with the Doctors”
Presentation on Advancements in Hip Replacement
Middletown, Ohio, Tuesday, December 22, 2009 – Atrium Medical Center will host “Dessert with the Doctors,” an informational discussion with M. Scott True, MD, and Robert Roman, MD, on the anterior approach to hip replacement. This free event will take place Tuesday, January 12, at 6:30 p.m., in the Professional Building, 5th floor, Auditorium 5A. Refreshments will be served. Convenient parking is available in Lot C or D. To register to attend, please call (513) 519-7213.
The anterior approach, a new method for total hip replacement, is less invasive than traditional hip replacement. Dr. True, orthopedic surgeon at Atrium Medical Center, explains, “With the anterior (frontal) approach, the incision is smaller and the surgery is done from the front of the hip rather than from the side. This allows the surgeon to move muscles and ligaments rather than cut through them.” The approach also makes recovery time much quicker than traditional hip replacement.
“Some patients who have an anterior approach total hip replacement can return to desk jobs in just a few weeks if all goes well,” adds Dr. True. For more information on this free event, call (513) 519-7213.
