Middletown, Ohio, May 16, 2010 – During its third-annual Nursing Year in Review Banquet, Atrium Medical Center celebrated the accomplishments of the entire nursing team and specifically honored three outstanding nurses and one physician for their contributions throughout the previous year. Honorees included:
- Nurse Rookie of the Year: Julia Hedgebeth, 4th Floor South
- Preceptor of the Year: Jennifer Manley, 4th Floor North
- Nurse of the Year: Jennifer Smith, 4th Floor South
- Physician of the Year: Saad Hagras, MD
“This award ceremony is a wonderful opportunity for Atrium Medical Center to spotlight several of the amazing people we have within our facility,” said Carol Turner, president and CEO of Atrium Medical Center. “It is due to their dedication to our patients and families that these four individuals have been honored.”
Nominations for all awards were made by nursing staff across Atrium Medical Center, and some Nurse of the Year nominations were made by the Atrium medical staff. Of the nearly 600 registered nurses on staff at Atrium, more than 53 were nominated for one of the nursing awards.
“It is a pleasure to serve with so many amazing nurses who demonstrate, every day, their ongoing commitment to our patients and their families,” stated Lisa Gossett, RN, MSN, chief nursing officer at Atrium. “I am proud not only of our nursing award winners, but also of all the other extraordinary staff who were nominated by their peers for providing outstanding service and care.”
This year’s banquet was held on the first day of Nurses Week – May 6 through 12. The banquet brings together nurses, physicians and other hospital staff to celebrate the many accomplishments of the nursing team throughout the year. In addition to the nominees and winners of the awards mentioned above, Atrium also celebrates nurses who have earned advanced degrees, national certifications or recent promotions.
