Women’s Center
Located in the Professional Building next to Atrium, the Wilbur & Mary Jean Cohen Women’s Center offers physicians more extensive diagnostic and support services to aid in patients’ care. Atrium’s recognized breast services feature all-digital mammography in addition to MRI for breast screening.
Women’s Services
- Full-field digital mammography with ImageChecker Computer-Aided Detection System
- Breast biopsies: fine-needle aspiration, core biopsy, MRI-guided, and ultrasound-guided stereotactic breast biopsy
- Ultrasound of the breast
- MRI of the breast (performed in Medical Imaging)
- Ultrasound for OB/GYN conditions
- DEXA bone scan
- Health risk assessment
- Educational resource center
Same-Day Results for Diagnostic Tests
Diagnostic mammograms and ultrasounds are reviewed and discussed with patients before they leave the Women’s Center, with reports sent to the referring physician the same day.
Screening mammograms typically are reviewed within two to four days. Normal results are sent to the referring physician as soon as the images are reviewed. If the results are abnormal, the referring physician is called immediately and the patient is contacted directly by
letter.
Convenient for Patients
For patients’ convenience, the Women’s Center can coordinate multiple tests on the same day.
Screening mammography is also available offsite at Atrium Medical Center Laboratory and Mammography in Middletown. Weekday and limited Saturday appointments are available.
