Laboratory Services
The laboratory at Atrium Medical Center (Atrium) is a modern, professionally staffed medical facility. The lab serves both inpatient and outpatient clients, physician offices and other Premier Health facilities.
The one-stop Diagnostics Center at Atrium—along with five community locations—makes outpatient access convenient for patients. We perform a wide range of laboratory tests and our goal is to provide consistent turnaround time of test results.
Physicians may receive test results via scheduled faxes, courier delivery, a mailbox in the physician lounge, or mail.
Technically certified personnel staff the laboratory 24 hours a day, seven days a week. After regular business hours, a pathologist remains on-call.
The Laboratory is accredited by the College of American Pathologists and the Joint Commission. The facility is also certified in ISO 9001-2001 standards, and holds a Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments "Highly Complex" certification.
Daily internal and external quality control programs, as well as an active Performance Improvement Program, are part of the routine operation of the department.
Approximately 95 percent of laboratory testing is performed on-site. All testing not done by Atrium is performed by reference laboratories selected by the laboratory medical director and approved by the Medical Staff Executive Committee.
