Cardiology & Vascular Services at Premier Health

As physicians, we know that heart disease can affect anyone — regardless of age, sex, or ethnicity. Premier Health’s cardiology and vascular services provides patients with preventative care and comprehensive treatment options.

In honor of heart month, Premier Health offered screenings throughout February.

These limited-time, free screenings included a non-fasting finger stick for total cholesterol; HDL (good cholesterol); blood sugar analysis; and a blood pressure reading. Screenings were offered in multiple locations – about 22 screening dates in all, and approximately 1000 actual screenings.

Premier Health also offers on-going vascular screenings that may minimize the impact of cardiovascular disease. If your patients are at risk of heart disease and/or stroke, Premier Health encourages them to participate when Life Line Screening performs vascular screenings in their communities.

As a practitioner in the ever-changing health care environment, Premier Health provides you with the opportunity to become acquainted with the latest technology. An open house will be held on Thursday, April 3, 2014 featuring demonstrations on the new Magellan Robotic System.

The Hansen Magellan Robotic System is FDA-cleared for use in the treatment of peripheral vascular disease, a condition that affects millions of Americans. Further, the Magellan robot is a platform technology that will expand into a wide variety of therapeutic vascular treatments involving women’s and men’s health, and coronary disease. This technology assists the physician with navigation of the blood vessels outside of the heart and brain, so therapeutic devices, such as stents, can be placed with greater predictability.

Mark Shaker, president & CEO, Miami Valley Hospital; John Matsuura, MD, RVT, RPVT; and Robert H. Brethen will provide remarks. Demonstrations will be held 1:00 – 3:00 pm and 5:30 – 7:30 pm.

The demonstration will be held in Berry Women’s Center, ground floor, Miami Valley Hospital.
