Premier Health Partners to Offer Healthcare Management Program

By Tammy Lundstrom, MD, JD

At Premier Health, working in partnership with our physicians is of the utmost importance. In keeping with our philosophy of being physician-led and professionally managed, we are invested in the education and development of current and future physician leaders. That’s why we’re pleased to offer the WSU Graduate Certificate in Healthcare Management Program. This formal, university-based program is an educational pathway for our medical staff members, providing physicians exposure to system leadership, as well as opportunities for involvement in key system initiatives and committees.

Together, Premier Health, Wright State University College of Business and the Boonshoft School of Medicine, established the Graduate Certificate in Healthcare Management Program. After a rigorous application and selection process, the program was launched with 15 physicians in January 2013, and consisted of three graduate-level courses, taught over three semesters in a one-year time frame.

We are proud to announce that in December 2013, the first class of 13 physicians graduated from the Graduate Certificate in Healthcare Management Program. Congratulations to the following physicians: Jerry Clark, Nicholas Davis, Michael Gelbart, Jared Hagaman, Ron Johnson, Madhu Kosaraju, Rajan Krishnamani, Barry McCorkle, John Miller, Reginald Sequeira, Subodh Wadhwa, and Scott Wilcher.

All feedback received on the program has been positive. According to the 13 graduating physicians, as well as the Wright State University faculty and program leadership, this program for physician education is mutually beneficial and highly successful.

The credits from the program can be transferred toward the MBA program or the MPH program at WSU. All members of the Premier Health medical staffs are invited to be considered for inclusion in the program, which begins in January of each year. The invitation for 2014 was sent last October, and 12 physicians are currently enrolled in this year’s program. The invitations for the 2015 class will be sent out late this summer. We look forward to the ongoing success of this invaluable physician leadership program.
