Experienced Leaders Form New Executive Team at Atrium Medical Center
MIDDLETOWN, Ohio (January 24, 2017): Atrium Medical Center has named a new chief operating officer and new vice president of operations as part of the hospital’s executive leadership team. They may be new to their roles, but the positions are being filled by experienced leaders and familiar faces from Atrium and the Premier Health system.
Marquita Turner, previously chief nursing officer and vice president of patient care services, has accepted the position of chief operating officer. She will serve as both chief nursing officer and chief operating officer. In these positions, Turner is responsible for the hospital’s professional nursing practice; driving quality, safety and patient experience outcomes; and overseeing day-to-day operations of the whole hospital.
Also, Rhonda Seidenschmidt, previously director of medical imaging, has accepted the position of vice president of operations. In her new role, Seidenschmidt manages ancillary and support services across the Middletown hospital and outpatient facilities.
These changes were spurred by the promotion effective January 1 of Michael Uhl to president of Atrium Medical Center. Before that, Uhl was chief operating officer.
Atrium Medical Center operates in Middletown the only full-service hospital and trauma center located in Warren County, as well as a 24/7 emergency center in Mason. The hospital has more than 1,500 full-time, part-time and on-call employees.
“Marquita and Rhonda both have shown demonstrated leadership at Atrium and have the capabilities to move the nationally-recognized hospital forward as we enter 2017,” said Michael Uhl, president of Atrium Medical Center. “Their skill sets will continue to drive innovation and future growth of Atrium.”
Turner becomes chief operating officer after a more than 10-year career at Atrium to date. Before being named chief nursing officer in 2013, Turner, also a Registered Nurse, was director of emergency and trauma services from 2010 to 2013. During that time, she developed a track record of improving relationships between service providers, reducing staff turnover, and seeking efficiencies and cost savings.
Turner has earned a Master of Business Administration from Indiana Wesleyan University and a bachelor of science degree in nursing from Miami University.
“Growing up in this community, I have a true appreciation and understanding of the needs of this demographic. My goal is to continue to meet those needs and expand our services to produce the highest quality outcomes and patient experience,” Turner said.
Rhonda Seidenschmidt brings more than 20 years’ experience in the medical imaging field to her new position of vice president of operations. When she became director of medical imaging in 2011 at Atrium, Seidenschmidt oversaw daily operations of the Wilbur & Mary Jean Cohen Women’s Center, multiple outpatient imaging centers, and the imaging departments at the main hospital campus including: CAT scan, MRI, ultrasound, mammography, nuclear medicine, PET/CT, interventional radiology, patient transport, and radiologist support staff.
Seidenschmidt, a registered radiologic technologist, first started at Premier Health in 2004. Over the years, she’s worked in various management roles, joining Atrium in 2010 as manager of ambulatory imaging and diagnostic radiology. As manager of ambulatory imaging, she worked closely with nursing and other departments to coordinate care with medical imaging and to improve processes.
Additionally, Seidenschmidt has earned a Master of Business Administration and bachelor of science degree in health administration from the University of Phoenix, and an associate’s degree in radiologic technology from Sinclair Community College.
“I’m excited to be joining the executive team of Atrium Medical Center,” Seidenschmidt said. “As a Warren County resident, I feel fortunate to have such a high quality facility close to home and I look forward to enhancing and expanding our services to continue to meet the needs of the region for years to come.”
The leadership announcements come during Atrium Medical Center’s 100th anniversary in 2017. While the celebrations will reflect on the hospital’s history in the community, Atrium is also offering new services.
In December, Atrium started its new Natural Beginnings Birth Center, the first comprehensive natural birth center in the greater Cincinnati area to be located within an acute care hospital. In spring 2017, renovations will be completed to add a geriatric unit to offer senior-friendly emergency care within the existing emergency department. In addition, Atrium and Premier Health are now part of MD Anderson Cancer Network ®, a program of MD Anderson Cancer Center. The affiliation provides Premier Health physicians with access to MD Anderson’s world-renowned expertise, offering patients and their families enhanced cancer care close to home.
Atrium Medical Center is located conveniently along the Interstate 75 corridor at exit 32, One Medical Center Drive in Middletown, between Cincinnati and Dayton.
