Atrium’s Pavilion offers an inpatient care area where staff members provide 24-hour supervision in a secure, healing environment for adults who face behavioral health issues requiring hospitalization.
Adult Inpatient Care (Behavioral Health Unit)
To enhance recovery, patients are encouraged to participate in a structured program that may include psychotherapy, problem-solving group activities and life-skills classes led by professional staff members. The Pavilion provides a variety of services offered as part of a holistic treatment plan that is designed to best manage each patient’s recovery.
Staff members encourage group therapy, individual therapy, family therapy, education or medication. The treatment team develops a customized treatment plan for each patient. The plan will include recommendations for discharge and post-treatment care so the patient can confidently return to life at home.
Older Adult Program
When older adults face life changes such as grief, loss or major life changes, they often experience issues with their mental or emotional health.
The Pavilion features an Older Adult Program to provide behavioral health care customized for adults age 65 and older who may require hospitalization. Highly trained staff members are equipped to help aging patients through difficult times in a secure, caring environment. To enhance recovery, patients participate in problem-solving group activities and life skills classes led by professional staff members.
A psychiatrist meets with participants and/or significant others of the Older Adult Program so that medication management can be a part of the treatment process as needed.
Our staff treats each patient with his or her own plan for recovery. The treatment plan designed for geriatric care might include:
- Psychiatric and medical evaluation
- Memory impairment assessment
- Medication management
- Psychological testing
- Individual, group or family therapies
- Physical, occupational, speech or recreational therapies
- Discharge plan
Alcohol and Chemical Dependency
While alcohol or chemical dependency may be a portion of the diagnosis of some patients, the Pavilion does not have a detoxification or rehabilitation program. The Pavilion treats alcohol or chemical dependency as a secondary diagnosis, and refers primary-diagnosed patients who face these issues to an appropriate outside service. The Pavilion will host Al-Anon/NAMI meetings if requested.
