Robotic Oncology Surgery

Atrium Medical Center surgical oncologists utilize the da Vinci® Surgical System, which offers many benefits to patients and physicians that traditional surgery and regular laparoscopic surgery cannot.

Benefits to Patients

Robotic surgery is performed with minimal small incisions. These small incisions can mean a faster recovery time and less pain and scarring, especially compared to traditional open surgery. This can result in a faster return to normal daily activities for the patient.

Reduced Physical Burden on Surgeon

Robotic surgery has successfully addressed the limitations of traditional laparoscopic surgery. In contrast to the awkward positions that are required for laparoscopic surgery, your surgeon is seated in an ergonomic and comfortable position at the robotic console, which reduces the surgeon’s physical burden.

Improved Visibility and Control

Instead of a flat, two-dimensional image obtained through the traditional laparoscopic camera, your surgeon receives a highly magnified, three-dimensional view. This view enhances both depth perception and surgical precision. Another advantage is that the surgeon has complete control of the camera.

Complex Movements and Improved Precision

Manipulation of robotic arm instruments improves range of motion (360 degrees), allowing your surgeon to perform more complex movements and access hard-to-reach areas.
