Focusing on You

Our Women’s Center team is devoted to providing you with comprehensive, personalized care. Centralized scheduling, a convenient location and on-site parking make it easy to arrange an appointment that fits your busy lifestyle.

Because waiting for results is often the most challenging part of any medical test, diagnostic mammograms and ultrasounds are reviewed and discussed with you before you leave the Women’s Center. Reports may even arrive at your physician’s office before you get home.

We typically evaluate screening mammograms within two to four days and send normal results to your physician as soon as the images are reviewed. If the results are abnormal, we call your physician immediately and contact you directly by letter.

Breast Imaging Services

Digital images are stored in a system that allows multiple physicians to view the information from various locations.

Atrium’s imaging services include:

Advanced Technology

Digital imaging allows the Women’s Center to provide advanced diagnosis. We use computer-aided detection (CAD) technology to scan breast images and mark any suspicious looking areas. These areas are then studied in more detail by the radiologist, who determines if further evaluation is needed. The R2 ImageChecker increases the accuracy of early-stage cancer diagnosis to 98 percent.

Additional Treatments

In addition to breast care services, the Women’s Center offers:

Minimally Invasive Treatment for Varicose Veins – To close and eliminate varicose veins, we offer venous radiofrequency ablation. This outpatient procedure uses radiofrequency energy delivered through a catheter that causes the vein to heat and collapse. The procedure takes about an hour and is performed by a fellowship-trained interventional radiologist. This treatment provides faster recovery compared to surgical options. A physician referral is required for evaluation and treatment.

Pelvic Floor Disorders Treatment – Atrium offers specialized physical therapy to relieve the symptoms of pelvic floor disorders in women, men and even young athletes.

Conditions treated include:

A Skilled Team

A team of experienced radiologists provide personalized care. Understanding the need for quick answers, one of our radiologists meets with you following a diagnostic exam to discuss the findings and available options. All of our radiologists are skilled with advanced training in the latest mammography and diagnostic imaging technologies.

Only female technologists with advanced mammography certification perform mammograms. Our full-time Breast Care Coordinator—a registered nurse—assists in ensuring a seamless transfer to the next level of care. She provides education, consultation and support for patients and their families. She also coordinates your care and helps you build trust and confidence in your treatment program.

The Breast Care Coordinator:

  • Monitors and facilitates treatment planning recommendations made by physicians
  • Sends treatment recommendations to the managing physician
  • Maintains clear communication among the multiple physician specialists

Our staff also includes an interventional radiologist for venous radiofrequency services and a physical therapist that specializes in pelvic floor disorders.
