Atrium Medical Center’s Diagnostic and Imaging areas are locally and nationally recognized for excellence in quality and capabilities.  

Breast Imaging Center of Excellence

The AMC Breast Center was designated a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence. The designation is awarded to breast imaging centers that achieve excellence by seeking and earning accreditation in the American College of Radiology’s entire voluntary breast imaging accreditation programs and modules, in addition to the mandatory accreditation.

Atrium Medical Center’s Breast Center mammography sites are:

  • Mammography Quality Standards Act-compliant facilities
  • American College of Radiology Breast Imaging Centers of Excellence
  • Accredited by the American College of Radiology - Mammography
  • Certified participants in the National Quality Measures for Breast Centers 

Nationally Recognized

The Diagnostics and Imaging facilities at Atrium Medical Center are accredited by various organizations, including The Joint Commission and the American College of Radiology. We are certified by the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

Laboratory

The Atrium Medical Center Laboratory is accredited by the College of American Pathologists, the Joint Commission, and CLIA certified by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid.  

American College of Radiology (ACR)

The ACR gold seal of accreditation represents the highest level of image quality and patient safety. It is awarded only to facilities meeting ACR Practice Guidelines and Technical Standards after a peer-review evaluation by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field. Image quality, personnel qualifications, adequacy of facility equipment, quality control procedures, and quality assurance programs are assessed. The findings are reported to the ACR Committee on Accreditation, which subsequently provides the practice with a comprehensive report they can use for continuous practice improvement. The ACR is a national professional organization serving more than 34,000 diagnostic/interventional radiologists, radiation oncologists, nuclear medicine physicians, and medical physicists with programs focusing on the practice of medical imaging and radiation oncology and the delivery of comprehensive health care services.

ACR ultrasound awardAtrium Medical Center and Atrium Medical Center-Middletown has been awarded a three-year term of accreditation in ultrasound (US) as the result of a recent review by the American College of Radiology (ACR)

The Ultrasound Accreditation Program involves the acquisition of clinical images, submission of relevant physician reports corresponding to clinical images submitted, and quality control documentation.

ACR CT awardAtrium Medical Center and Atrium Medical Center-Middletown has been awarded a three-year term of accreditation in computed tomography (CT) as the result of a recent review by the American College of Radiology (ACR)

The CT Accreditation Program involves submission of clinical and phantom images, dose measurements and scanning protocols. Accreditation is required for providers that bill for CT under part B of the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule.

ACR MRI awardAtrium Medical Center and Atrium Medical Center-Middletown, has been awarded a three-year term of accreditation in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) as the result of a recent review by the American College of Radiology (ACR)

The MRI Accreditation Program evaluates staff qualifications, quality control, MR safety policies and image quality. Accreditation is required for providers that bill for MRI under part B of the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule.

ACR NM awardAtrium Medical Center has been awarded a three-year term of accreditation in nuclear medicine as the result of a recent review by the American College of Radiology (ACR)

ACR Mammo awardAtrium Medical Center has been awarded a three-year term of accreditation in Mammography as the result of a recent review by the American College of Radiology (ACR).

The Mammography Accreditation Program provides peer review and feedback on staff qualifications, equipment, quality control and assurance, image quality and dose. Accreditation is required for all U.S. facilities.

ACR Breast Ultrasound awardAtrium Medical Center has been awarded a three-year term of accreditation in Breast Ultrasound (US) as the result of a recent review by the American College of Radiology (ACR)

The Breast Ultrasound Accreditation Program provides peer review and constructive feedback on staff qualifications, equipment, quality control and assurance, accuracy of needle placement and image quality.

ACR Breast Stereotactic imgAtrium Medical Center has been awarded a three-year term of accreditation in Stereotactic Breast Biopsy as the result of a recent review by the American College of Radiology (ACR)

The Stereotactic Breast Biopsy Accreditation Program provides facilities with peer review and constructive feedback on staff qualifications, equipment, quality control and assurance, accuracy of needle placement, image quality and dose.

The RSNA is an association of more than 54,000 radiologists, radiation oncologists, medical physicists, and related scientists committed to excellence in patient care and healthcare delivery through education, research and technologic innovation.

The ASRT is a professional society of more than 132,000 medical imaging and radiation therapy professionals dedicated to advancing the medical imaging and radiation therapy profession and to enhancing the quality of patient care.

The AAPM is a scientific, educational, and professional organization of more than 7,000 medical physicists promoting the application of physics to medicine and biology.

The Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (SNMMI), headquartered in Reston, Va., is a nonprofit scientific and professional organization that promotes the science, technology and practical application of nuclear medicine and molecular imaging. SNMMI strives to be a leader in unifying, advancing and optimizing molecular imaging, with an ultimate goal of improving human health. With 18,000 members worldwide, SNMMI represents nuclear and molecular imaging professionals, all of whom are committed to the advancement of the field.
