Accredited Chest Pain Center

CPC SealHeart attacks are the leading cause of death in the United States, with 600,000 people dying annually of heart disease. More than five million Americans visit hospitals each year with chest pain. That’s why Atrium Medical Center has earned Chest Pain Center with Primary PCI Accreditation from the American College of Cardiology (ACC) Accreditation Services. An accredited Chest Pain Center’s approach to cardiac patient care allows clinicians to reduce time to treatment during the critical early stages of a heart attack. Hospitals that receive Chest Pain Center Accreditation status have achieved a higher level of expertise in dealing with patients who present with symptoms of a heart attack.

As an accredited Chest Pain Center, Atrium Medical Center uses evidence-based procedures developed by leading experts in cardiac care to reduce time to treatment in the critical early stages of a heart attack. We coordinate our care among EMS, our Emergency Trauma Center, Cardiac Cath Laboratory, and Cardiology Departments to streamline processes for diagnosis, treatment and management of patients experiencing chest pain and heart attacks.
